hello. Welcome to our nook near the shores of Lake Lovely aka Lake Michigan. We have recently purchased a 100+ year old farmhouse on 5 acres. Feel free to follow us as we enter into the unknown world of renovations. Here we go!
Sometimes when in the midst of renovating, you may want to flail your arms while screaming "whyyyy meeee!!!???" We were on the hunt for roof shingles to install a ridge vent in the attic. Mold has appeared due to no ventilation. So we had to remove all of our abundance of "shit" from the attic so This. Is. Crucial. Not to mention we've been sleeping downstairs to avoid mold smells. But when you have the help and support of good peeps who have "said" shingles, give out free donuts while making you laugh, renovating is a piece of an oddly spiced cake donut with glaze.
It sure has been a long time since last post. But spring has sprung and we're hopping back on the home reno do do train. Dave tore his Achilles a few weeks back but that doesn't stop Mr Hops A Lot from getting back up on an enormous ladder to frame out the windows or pruning our apples trees for that matter.
So much for posting on a regular basis! But but but... we had an amazing summer in our new home, took a much needed camping trip in the UP and so much progress has been made on this labor of looooove. Still work to do but our beds are in, our couch is in and we eat dinner at a dinner table! hot diggity dog! Take a peek at the pics. I'll be posting before and after pics soon. Not real soon. But soon. And again, mucho gracias to our family and friends that pitched in and helped us create our home. We love you! xxoo
It's been awhile, yes. But that just means we've been taking some time to enjoy! We've got the major work done. Now it's just the details such as painting ceiling, putting up trim, stair handrail and the like. Truth be told, we'll be working on this labor of love for months, probably years, to come. One sweet room at a time!
We are a family of 3. (Actually 15, counting Orange Kitty, Boy Cat, Sophie goldfish, Dave goldfish and our new flock of chickens: Liesl, Friedrich, Louisa, Kurt, Brigitta, Marta, Gretl and Lavender. We moved from metro Detroit to southwest Michigan in 2011. We fell in love with the area. In December 2013, we closed on a house. A home.
