Side note: I certainly didn't know that horse hair was used in plaster and when I first saw some hair sticking out of the plaster, in truth, it kinda freaked me out. So I googled "hair in plaster" and discovered that horse hair along with goat and ox hair was also used. Hair was used to serve as a "binding medium and gives tenacity to the material." (Thank you, Wikipedia.)
Anyhoo, with every wall that we tear down, we find lath strips. We have 2 beautifully dingy and gigantic piles of it. So... below is a pic of what we're going to do. Somewhere in the house. Probably the kitchen. Maybe the porch. It makes such a loud statement. And it's free. Oh, how I heart it so. Lath! Lath! Lath!
